Fes -Day 1

We had an amazing day today in Fes! We went to the medina (market), Fes el-Bali, one of the largest living medieval cities in the world. Its narrow winding alleys and covered bazaars are intricate in their design and are awash of brilliant colors – an overload on my senses as I squeezed past donkeys and experienced the sounds and smells of this jostling city. The dye makers, hills of spices, vats of tanners, and palaces of merchants were some of the many things that I photographed. During a visit to a tannery, we watched the tanners at work. Lunch was unbelievably delicious. Marinated vegetables like carrots, eggplant, olives....and chicken kabobs. Complete with a tea server. Back to hotel @ 4 pm to download and edit the over 450 photos I took today. Fabulous Moroccan dinner at Dar El Yakot with traditional Moroccan salads and cinnamon chicken in a pastry puff.
